Portland, Oregon
I grew up watching my mother and grandmother, cook in their kitchens; creating beautifully looking and tasting dinners throughout my childhood years. It was a passion and talent these women naturally expressed as they chopped, sliced, poured, and stirred their way through motherhood of the fifties through the eighties. Cooking therefore was a big part of the household I grew up in and is something I was fortunate to learn over the years by watching and eating my way through my mother’s delicious nightly family dinners.
Today, the daily grind of what’s for dinner is a conversation that never goes away. Whether it be on the playground with other moms, over the phone with your mom, or via email with friends, “What are you cooking tonight?” is what drove the idea of Kari’s Kitchen. Sharing this passion for cooking with my family and friends is what it’s all about. I once read in a favorite cookbook of mine, License to Grill, “The best meals I’ve ever had were fantastic not only because of the food- but primarily because of the people I ate it with.” Many things in life are a lot more fun when you take the time to share it with good friends over good conversation.
I hope by browsing through my recipe collection from the many Cooking Dinner Together sessions, I have sparked your interest in joining us for a future session of Cooking Dinner Together at Kari’s Kitchen.
